Serendipity and broken digits drew duo Twin Toes together in 2019. The unlikely turn of events unravelled when Antoine welcomed Nicolas to his Brussels home studio in 2019. A couple of days prior, despite being over 120 kilometres apart, the pair incidentally both broke their left index toes. After toying with the idea of forming a musical partnership before their injuries, the pair took their shared physical pain as a sign that they were in sync enough to make it work in the business.
“‘Sunny Eggs’ is the first song we made together,” the duo explain. “We can say it was the fire starter of Twin Toes.” With their injuries behind them, they looked to their favourite food as inspiration for the cut. “The song is a tribute to sunny side up eggs because, man, we eat so many eggs together that we had to write about it.” It precedes debut record Long Story Short, due for release on October 14th, a 10-track collection of jovial indie-pop that’s the summation of jamming sessions, song drafts, outlandish ideas, and late-night discussions, making for an organic introduction to the characterful pair.
