I heard Freedom a while back, the first few seconds already pull you in. A gentle piano loop starts things off, quiet but attention-grabbing, like someone trying to find a little space to breathe. Then the beat slides in with a smooth drum and bass rhythm that lifts everything up without taking away the emotion.

The song digs into that feeling of wanting to escape your own head, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Lines like “Freedom, take me anywhere else away from myself, I want out of here” hit hard because they sound real. Saxton’s voice doesn’t try too hard; it feels natural, like someone being honest about what they’re going through.

What’s great about Freedom is how it balances calm and movement. There are quiet moments that sit heavy, and then the rhythm and harmonies give just enough lift to keep things moving. The layers of synths and background vocals come together gently, adding warmth without overcomplicating it. The production by Rogue VHS keeps everything clear and open, giving the track room to breathe.

It’s not a perfect song, but that’s part of why it works. It doesn’t feel polished to the point of losing soul. It feels like someone trying to make sense of things, one verse at a time. It’s easy to connect with that. The more you listen, the more it pulls you in.

If you haven’t yet, check out Freedom and give Matt Saxton a follow on social media and Spotify. You’ll want to stay tuned for what he puts out next.
